How do I winterize my e-Bike?

Ask your dealer about the type of battery installed in your e-Bike, and about the applicable maintenance recommendations.

When not in use, all batteries will slowly lose their charge. After a certain amount of time, once the battery is fully drained ("exhaustive discharge"), damage is likely to occur. An exhaustive discharge can even destroy certain types of batteries.

Two main types of e-Bike batteries need to be distinguished:

Batteries that are equipped with an impulse charging device. That device actively and constantly charges and discharges the battery in order to extend its lifespan. This is why such batteries need to remain plugged in at all times.

Batteries that need to be plugged in and unplugged regularly in order to achieve the same effect.

Some e-Bike dealers will perform battery maintenance for you. Check with your dealer today!
