What is the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries, and how much are replacement units?

For instance, the lithium-ion batteries installed in the Renault Z.E. Fluence are rated for 1,500 charging cycles. With a nominal operating range of 150 km, this amounts to about 225,000 km. The manufacturer's warranty usually covers 150,000 km or 4 years.

However, it's important to point out that correct handling and maintenance will extend the battery's lifespan. Depending on type, size, and capacity, new units currently cost between €15,000 and €20,000. Smaller lithium-ion batteries (1 kWh) are available for €600.
